
Congress Announces Candidates for Lakhimpur, Manipur, and Mizoram in 4th list for Lok Sabha Polls
Guwahati, 24th March: The Central Election Committee of the Congress unveiled its fourth list of candidates on March 23, revealing contenders for various constituencies including Lakhimpur in Assam, Manipur, and Mizoram.
Uday Shankar Hazarika has been nominated as the Congress candidate for the Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituency in Assam. Hazarika, a former BJP leader who switched allegiance to the Congress in December last year, will contest against Pradan Baruah of the BJP in the upcoming elections.
The Congress has selected Prof. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam for the Inner Manipur constituency and Alfred Kanngam S. Arthur for the Outer Manipur (ST) constituency in Manipur. These candidates will represent the party in the Lok Sabha elections, aiming to secure victory in their respective constituencies.
In Mizoram, Lalbiakzama has been chosen as the Congress candidate for the Mizoram (ST) seat. The party’s decision reflects its strategy to field candidates with strong potential to represent the interests of the people of Mizoram effectively.
The roster of candidates released by the Congress encompasses individuals contesting for positions in various states including Assam, Andaman, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal. These nominations mark a significant step for the party as it gears up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
