Congress Appoints Manoj Chauhan as New Co-Incharge for Assam Ahead of By-Elections

Guwahati– In a strategic move ahead of the upcoming by-elections in Assam, the Congress party has appointed AICC secretary Manoj Chauhan as the new co-incharge of the state.

Chauhan, who previously held the co-incharge position in Haryana during the recent Assembly elections, will now focus on strengthening the party’s presence in Assam.

Hailing from the Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh, Chauhan was recognized by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a talent search initiative aimed at cultivating young leaders within the party. His appointment is part of Congress’s broader strategy to involve dynamic and emerging leaders in pivotal roles across various states.

Chauhan’s experience in managing electoral campaigns in Haryana is expected to be instrumental as Congress works to bolster its organizational capabilities and enhance its electoral prospects in Assam.

In a related development, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the nomination of six candidates for the upcoming by-elections in the Legislative Assemblies of Assam and Madhya Pradesh. Among these, four candidates are from Assam, including Dhrubajyoti Purakayastha for the Dholai constituency, Sanjib Warle for the Sidli constituency, Brajenjit Sinha for the Bongaigaon constituency, and Tanzil Hussain for the Samaguri constituency.

With these appointments, the Congress party is gearing up to make a significant impact in the upcoming elections, aiming to reclaim its foothold in Assam’s political landscape.
