Congress Claims Majority Opposition Support in Assam Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections
Guwahati, 29th February: Congress leader Bhupen Borah asserted that 60% of Assam’s population opposes the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections intensify.
Speaking on the seat-sharing arrangements among opposition parties, Borah mentioned ongoing discussions, even post-nomination filings.
Borah highlighted efforts to persuade the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to reduce their number of candidates and outlined strategic collaborations between Congress and AAP in Delhi and Punjab.
In response to the seat-sharing arrangement between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress Party, BJP leader Nalin Kohli provided insights into the intricate political dynamics.
Kohli acknowledged the Congress Party’s readiness to adopt a secondary role in various states, recognizing its limited influence compared to regional players. He emphasized that seat understandings between AAP and Congress are localized and contingent upon state-specific considerations, refuting the notion of a unified opposition front at the national level.
Kohli also addressed recent controversies surrounding AAP, particularly allegations of corruption, highlighting concerns over the party’s credibility amidst ongoing scandals.
