Congress Criticizes Appointment of Kiren Rijiju as Parliamentary Affairs Minister
National Desk, 11th June: The Congress party has voiced its dissatisfaction with the appointment of Kiren Rijiju as the Parliamentary Affairs Minister. General Secretary Jairam Ramesh took to social media to express his concerns, stating that Rijiju’s appointment “inspires no confidence whatsoever that the Prime Minister wants Parliament to function any differently than it has over the past decade.”
Despite the perceived intentions, Ramesh emphasized the determination of the INDIA coalition to effectively represent the will and mandate of the people in both houses of Parliament.
Kiren Rijiju assumed office as the new Parliamentary Affairs Minister on June 10, following his appointment. Alongside his responsibilities in the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Rijiju previously held positions as the Cabinet Minister for the Ministry of Earth Sciences and the Ministry of Food Processing. Pralhad Joshi previously managed the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the responsibility bestowed upon him, Rijiju pledged to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament by fostering cooperation among all political parties.
“We are committed to the job and will reach out to everyone. I urge all political parties and members of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for their cooperation,” Rijiju affirmed.
