Congress Delegation Led by Rahul Gandhi Blocked on Route to Sambhal, Sparks Political Outcry

Assam: A Congress delegation led by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was stopped by police while en route to Sambhal, drawing sharp criticism from party leaders.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi condemned the move, accusing the BJP government of suppressing efforts to maintain peace and harmony in the region.

“We strongly condemn the police administration’s decision to block Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi from reaching Sambhal,” Gogoi remarked, adding that the issue was raised in Parliament, prompting the INDIA alliance to stage a walkout in protest.

Gogoi reiterated the Congress party’s dedication to ensuring peace and tranquillity in Sambhal, emphasizing their readiness to work collaboratively to restore normalcy.

The Congress leader also drew a comparison to the ongoing unrest in Manipur, accusing the BJP of fomenting discord across the country. “Just as they created turmoil in Manipur, the BJP seems intent on spreading conflict in other regions. Their actions are against the very fabric of peace and harmony in India,” he stated.

The incident has intensified political tensions, with Congress leaders calling for accountability and an end to what they term “undemocratic” actions by the ruling party.
