Congress Leader Bhupen Bora Challenges Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Ahead of Elections
Guwahati, 26th March: In a press conference today, Congress leader Bhupen Bora ignited the political arena with bold statements, shedding light on issues of unemployment and land distribution in the state. Taking a firm stance, Bora accused the Sarma administration of neglecting the pressing concerns of the people.
Bora began by asserting that “10 lakh unemployed youth have recently registered, yet job vacancies remain unfilled,” boldly declaring, “Not a single new job has been created by Himanta Biswa Sarma.”
Further, Bora raised alarms about land distribution, particularly among indigenous communities, noting that approximately “11 lakh families” from indigenous groups are landless, highlighting the persistent issue of land allocation in Assam.
He criticized Sarma’s alleged diversion tactics, accusing him of employing ‘mind games’ and ‘psychological games’ to evade crucial questions raised by the opposition.
Moreover, Bora announced his intention to contest against Sarma in the 2026 elections, pending approval from his party. He stressed the importance of the opposition standing as a strong voice for the people, particularly on issues such as landlessness among indigenous communities.
“In the 2026 election, I will challenge the current CM of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma,” declared Bora, setting the stage for a direct electoral confrontation.
Amidst accusations of mocking the opposition’s concerns, Bora emphasized the urgency of addressing the state’s burning issues, accusing the CM of evading accountability. As Bora’s assertions resonate across Assam’s political landscape, anticipation builds for a heated electoral showdown in 2026.
