Congress Leader Gaurav Gogoi Criticizes BJP’s Approach in Parliament and National Issues
Guwahati, 24th June: Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi has strongly criticized the BJP government’s handling of critical national issues and its conduct during the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha.
Gogoi pointed out the government’s alleged neglect of pressing issues such as the situation in Manipur, unemployment, heatwaves, and controversies surrounding exams. He lamented that parliamentary traditions were not being respected from the outset of the session.
In a particularly pointed criticism, Gogoi expressed disappointment over the selection of a non-Dalit pro-tem Speaker instead of a Dalit, emphasizing the missed opportunity for the Dalit community to witness historic representation in administering the oath to MPs of diverse backgrounds.
Regarding the NEET examination controversy, Gogoi demanded accountability at the highest levels, calling for the resignation of both the NTA chairman and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He argued that under Pradhan’s leadership, the NTA had overseen numerous faults and errors, adversely affecting many students.
“It is not just the NTA chairman; the Education Minister should also step down. Dharmendra Pradhan cannot continue when so many students have suffered due to the administration’s failures,” Gogoi asserted.
The statements reflect ongoing tensions and criticisms within Parliament regarding governance issues and the handling of national examinations, underscoring the opposition’s calls for accountability and adherence to parliamentary norms.
