Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge: Over 500 attacks against Christians since 2021
Guwahati: Indian National Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge at a rally in Dimapur said that 500 attacks on Christians have occurred since 2021.
The Congress leader also asserted that St. Mary Tressa-affiliated government entities had suffered abuse while in power.
Meanwhile, Mallikarjun Kharge added that the saffron party’s members believe that India attained independence in 2014, after Narendra Modi was elected prime minister, rather than in 1947.
“They don’t remember 1947 independance. The Saffron party thinks when Modi became Prime Minister, India got the real freedom in 2014,” he said.
The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), the Naga People’s Front (NPF), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have been looting the state for the past 20 years, and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said it is high time the people of Nagaland receive justice and a government that works for the people.
The central BJP committee and the state administration, according to the Congress leader, have continued to make empty promises to the residents of eastern Nagaland.
According to Mallikarjun Kharge, Home Minister Amit Shah promised the Eastern Naga People’s Organization in December 2022 that he would visit the state in January 2023 and that a solution would be achieved after the election process was over, as was mutually agreed upon.
“This empty promise has now become a charismatics trade of the BJP government,” he added.
The congressman further asserted that BJP politicians merely lecture us and show us what little Congress has accomplished.
Prior to the Nagaland Assembly elections, Mallikarjun Kharge, the leader of the Congress party, said on February 16 that his party is committed to the welfare and general development of Nagaland.
According to Kharge, the people of Nagaland deserve a peaceful, wealthy, and progressive government.
“Together, let’s bring change,” he tweeted.
Kharge also promised to bring back Nagaland’s Old Pension Program if his party is elected, just as it was done in Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Kharge asserted that if his party wins the upcoming election on February 27, it will form a minority board, give women 33% of the seats currently held by men in local urban authorities, and ensure full payment of MRNEGA dues in addition to promoting safety and law and order.
