Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi Arrives in Shillong
Guwahati: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi finally arrived at Malki Ground in Shillong to take part in an electoral rally after several hours of delay on Wednesday.
Gandhi was greeted by Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee leaders(MPCC) and members amid strict security.
According to MPCC President Vincent Pala, Gandhi’s presence will benefit the party.
Gandhi is a prominent Congress campaigner in the state’s forthcoming assembly elections.
Notably, the Wayanad MP did not participate in the party’s campaign in Tripura where voting took place on February 16.
The top leaders of the Congress have not yet been seen campaigning in the three northeastern states of Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland with the exception of party president Mallikarjun Kharge, who spoke briefly on Tuesday at an election rally in Nagaland.
Polling will be held in both the states of Meghalaya and Nagaland on February 27 while the counting is scheduled on March 2.
