Congress Leader Rakibul Hussain Demands ED Probe into BJP Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah’s Allegations
Guwahati, 13th November: Congress leader Rakibul Hussain strongly responded to BJP Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah’s recent remarks, condemning them as disrespectful. Hussain insisted on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation to authenticate Baruah’s claims.
As a seasoned five-time MLA, Hussain expressed disbelief at Baruah’s audacious, baseless allegations. He highlighted Baruah’s transformation from a former Congress colleague, initially rising through the ranks alongside Rahul Gandhi, to now adopting a confrontational approach that tarnishes others’ reputations. According to Hussain, Baruah’s recent behavior sharply contrasts with his earlier, more composed demeanor.
Lamenting personal attacks on senior leaders, including himself, Bhupen Borah, and Gaurav Gogoi, Hussain firmly refuted Baruah’s specific claims made on November 11. He clarified his lack of interest in accepting contracts and criticized Baruah’s statements as unacceptable and lacking in evidence.
Urging an ED investigation into the allegations, Hussain challenged Baruah to provide evidence for his sensational claims, emphasizing the need for accountability in political discourse. “How dare he speak without any basis?” questioned Hussain, stressing the necessity for responsible conduct in political exchanges. On November 11, Baruah had purportedly offered contracts to Bhupen Borah, Rakibul Hussain, and Gaurav Gogoi, indicating specific amounts if they joined the BJP under the Jal Jeevan Mission, insinuating a lack of value in ideologies.
