Congress Leader Shashi Tharoor Criticizes BJP’s ‘One Nation, One Civil Court’ Theory

Northeast Desk, 4th November: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has criticized the BJP’s ‘One Nation, One Civil Court’ theory, calling it a ‘ghostly apparition’ that lacks substance.

Speaking during an election campaign press conference in Mizoram, Tharoor stated that the Congress has consistently opposed the BJP’s ‘One Nation, One Election, One Law’ concept, emphasizing the need to understand its contents before lending support.

Tharoor expressed concerns about the BJP’s push for a ‘Uniform Civil Code,’ which he believes could potentially undermine the rights of tribal and religious minority communities.

He argued that while diversity and differences exist, India can remain united, and the Congress stands for preserving these diverse elements within the nation.

Tharoor’s criticism highlights the ongoing political debate in India surrounding the BJP’s proposals for legal and civil reforms.

The specifics of the ‘One Nation, One Civil Court’ and the ‘Uniform Civil Code’ are currently under scrutiny, and opposition parties like the Congress are closely monitoring these developments.
