Congress MP Abdul Khaleque: Himanta Biswa Sarma Is Allergic To Mughals

Guwahati: Abdul Khaleque, a Congress member from Barpeta in Assam, made a sly dig at Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma by claiming that he was allergic to Mughals.

The Congress MP asserted that the country’s freedom efforts would be incomplete without the Mughals, noting that they provided India with a blueprint and gave the country the moniker “Hindustan.”

Khaleque said, “Our chief minister has an allergy to the Mughals. However, he too claimed that Delhi was the capital of India since the Mughal era. Though he feels awkward expressing it openly, that’s the reality.”

The Mughals, who created the Taj Mahal and Red Fort, among other internationally renowned structures, contributed to India’s history, according to the Congress MP.

This occurs when the Assam and Delhi chief ministers are engaged in a Twitter spat over the educational policies implemented by their respective governments.

Since the Mughal era, Delhi has served as India’s capital, according to CM Sarma.

Khaleque added that every Prime Minister has raised the national flag at Red Fort on the anniversary of Pakistan’s independence, and if it were a bad custom, it shouldn’t be carried out.

“If we hate Mughals that much, then hoisting the Tricolour at Red Fort should not be the right thing to do,” said the Congress MP.
