Congress MP Abdul Khaleque Resigns, Blames APCC Leadership for Party’s Decline in Assam
Guwahati, 15th March: Congress MP Abdul Khaleque has pointed fingers at Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah and AICC General Secretary in-charge Jitendra Singh for the deteriorating prospects of the party in Assam.
Khaleque holds them responsible for the current state of affairs within the party, expressing dissatisfaction after being denied a ticket from his constituency, Barpeta.
Instead, the ticket was given to Deep Bayan, the President of the Assam Pradesh Congress Sevadal.
In his resignation letter to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Khaleque alleged that the approach taken by the party’s state President and AICC General Secretary in-charge has negatively impacted the party’s future in Assam, stating that “people-centric issues have taken a back seat.”
This development adds to the growing turmoil within the Congress party in Assam, as it gears up for the upcoming elections.
