Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Accuses BJP of Stalling Parliamentary Proceedings
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of deliberately disrupting parliamentary proceedings to avoid discussions on pressing national issues. Speaking to the media, Gogoi stated, “In both the Houses, the ruling party is halting procedures systematically. We have not had the opportunity to speak in the Lok Sabha since last Thursday. The government is clearly avoiding discussions.”
Gogoi’s remarks follow his earlier criticism of BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who accused the Congress of collaborating with US-based billionaire investor George Soros to undermine India’s progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Gogoi revealed that the Congress had repeatedly requested the Speaker to initiate privilege proceedings against Dubey for his controversial remarks but claimed their letters had been ignored. “Yet all our pleas have been ignored, and the BJP MP is allowed to continue with his rants,” Gogoi said.
Highlighting the BJP’s alleged strategy, Gogoi remarked, “Even today, his name is listed,” insinuating that Dubey’s participation in parliamentary proceedings was part of a broader effort to derail meaningful debates.
The Congress leader’s comments add to mounting opposition criticism over the BJP’s handling of parliamentary affairs, with allegations of avoiding accountability and stifling discussions on critical national matters.
