Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Advocates for Moral and Constitutional Values in Governance

National Desk, 11th February: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi delivered a resounding condemnation of the misuse of religious slogans to propagate hatred, emphasizing the paramount importance of moral and constitutional values in governance during a session in parliament.

Gogoi underscored the fundamental principles of dharma, emphasizing truth, compassion, and service to humanity as guiding principles for individuals and the state alike. He highlighted that these values, inherent in religious teachings, are also foundational to the governance of India.

In a pointed critique, Gogoi called out the misuse of the popular religious chant “Jai Shri Ram” to incite aggression and division. He argued that genuine devotion to revered figures like Lord Rama cannot coexist with actions that fuel hatred, violence, or discrimination against others.

Emphasizing the significance of the Indian Constitution, Gogoi reaffirmed its status as the preeminent governing document, embodying democratic principles and ensuring justice for all citizens. He stressed the imperative of upholding these principles above any narrow sectarian interests, reaffirming the commitment to inclusivity, equality, and pluralism in Indian governance.
