Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Appointed Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha; Kodikunnil Suresh Named Chief Whip
National Desk, 14th July: In a significant development within the Congress Party, MP Gaurav Gogoi has been appointed as the Deputy Leader of the party in the Lok Sabha. The announcement was officially made by Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal on the microblogging site X, formerly known as Twitter.
Alongside Gogoi’s appointment, MP Kodikunnil Suresh has been named as the Chief Whip of the Congress Party in the Lok Sabha. Additionally, MPs Manickam Tagore and Dr. Md Jawaid have been designated as whips to support the party’s parliamentary operations.
K C Venugopal conveyed that Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi had formally informed the Lok Sabha Speaker about these new appointments. In his tweet, Venugopal congratulated the newly appointed leaders and affirmed the party’s commitment to actively advocating for the interests and concerns of the people in the Lok Sabha.
“Guided by LOP Shri @RahulGandhi ji, the Congress and INDIA parties will energetically champion the people’s causes in the Lok Sabha,” Venugopal emphasized.
The appointments underline Congress’s strategic restructuring efforts ahead of the upcoming parliamentary sessions, aiming to strengthen its legislative stance and representation in national governance.
