Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Slams PM Modi, Amit Shah Over Manipur and Adani Controversy
National: In a scathing critique, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of sidestepping critical national issues, including the Adani controversy and the prolonged crisis in Manipur. Speaking during a parliamentary debate on the Constitution, Gogoi questioned the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, particularly in addressing these pressing matters.
“During the discussion, we came to know how much respect Amit Shah and Narendra Modi have for Baba Saheb Ambedkar. The truth has come out,” Gogoi remarked, alleging the government’s deliberate evasion of questions related to the Adani issue. He criticized PM Modi’s recent two-hour speech, noting the absence of any mention of Manipur, and took aim at Shah’s brief comments, stating, “Those 12 seconds from Amit Shah will prove very costly for BJP and Amit Shah.”
The Congress leader demanded Amit Shah’s resignation and an apology, asserting that the government’s inadequate response to the Manipur crisis reflects poorly on its priorities. He emphasized that the opposition remains steadfast in its demand for a detailed parliamentary discussion on the situation in Manipur, which has witnessed prolonged ethnic violence, significant loss of life, and displacement.
Gogoi’s remarks come amid mounting pressure on the BJP-led government to address these issues transparently, with the opposition underscoring the need for decisive action and accountability.
