Congress MPs Join All-Party Delegation to Combat Pakistan-Origin Terrorism on Global Stage

Guwahati: In a significant move aimed at bolstering India’s stance against cross-border terrorism, the Congress party has nominated four of its parliamentarians, including Assam’s own Gaurav Gogoi, to join an all-party delegation set to embark on a crucial international mission.

This development follows a formal request from the government to the Congress leadership to contribute to the delegation, which will travel to key partner nations, including members of the UN Security Council, to articulate India’s unwavering position on terrorism emanating from Pakistan.

The nomination of Gaurav Gogoi, alongside Anand Sharma, Syed Naseer Hussain, and Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, underscores the Congress’s commitment to national unity on matters of national security.

The government’s decision to dispatch seven all-party delegations comes in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, signaling a reinforced effort to project India’s national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The Parliamentary Affairs Ministry’s statement emphasized the delegations’ mandate to convey India’s strong message of zero tolerance against terrorism to the global community. The composition of the delegations reflects a broad political spectrum, with prominent MPs from both the ruling National Democratic Alliance and the opposition INDIA bloc, including Ravi Shankar Prasad, Baijayant Panda, Shashi Tharoor, Sanjay Jha, Kanimozhi, Supriya Sule, and Shrikant Shinde, leading individual delegations.

Each delegation, which will also include seasoned diplomats, is expected to visit approximately five countries, facilitating a comprehensive engagement with key international stakeholders. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, through his social media platform, highlighted the initiative as a powerful reflection of national unity transcending political differences, emphasizing that “in moments that matter most, Bharat stands united.”
