Congress Party Strengthens Strategy in Assam Amid Growing Public Dissatisfaction

Guwahati, 3rd October: The Congress Party convened an extended executive meeting on Thursday, featuring prominent leaders such as All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary Prithviraj Sathe, Assam Pradesh Congress Working President MLA Zakir Hussain Sikdar, and General Secretary Gorjan Musahary. The primary focus of the meeting was to reinforce the party’s presence in Assam and the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), strategizing for the upcoming political challenges.

Key discussions centered around enhancing grassroots engagement and addressing pressing issues faced by the citizens. The leaders collectively emphasized the importance of rebuilding the party’s strength to effectively counter the current political landscape dominated by the ruling coalition.

In his address to the media, Prithviraj Sathe highlighted a growing sense of dissatisfaction among the public toward the Narendra Modi-led Union government following the recent Lok Sabha elections. “A change in the mood of the nation is palpable,” Sathe stated. He pointed out that citizens are becoming increasingly aware of the political agenda of the Modi government and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), expressing concerns over the government’s direction.

Sathe also criticized the Union government’s treatment of Sonam Wangchuk, who was detained just a day before Gandhi Jayanti. He described this action as a mockery of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals, emphasizing that it contradicts the principles of truth and non-violence that Gandhiji championed.

The Congress leaders reiterated their commitment to uniting and providing a robust alternative to the people of Assam, advocating for a governance approach focused on public welfare rather than divisive politics. This meeting signifies the party’s proactive stance in regaining influence in the region, as they prepare for future electoral battles.
