Congress President Kharge Calls for Impartial Probe into Jharkhand Train Accident

National Desk, 29th February: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed profound sorrow over the loss of lives in the recent train accident in Jharkhand, calling for an ‘impartial’ investigation to hold accountable any individuals responsible for safety violations. Through a social media post, Kharge described the incident in Jamtara as ‘extremely heartbreaking’ and extended his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased, while also praying for the swift recovery of the injured.

Kharge urged the railways and government administrations to initiate immediate relief efforts, emphasizing the need for Congress workers to extend all possible assistance to the affected individuals. Additionally, he stressed the Railway Ministry’s responsibility for the tragic accident and demanded a thorough and impartial investigation.

Earlier in the day, President Droupadi Murmu also expressed her grief and offered condolences to those impacted by the train accident in Jharkhand’s Jamtara district. Describing the sudden deaths as ‘extremely saddening,’ she conveyed her deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The incident occurred near Kaljariya railway crossing in the Jamtara-Karmatand area, where two passengers lost their lives and several others sustained injuries after being struck by a train. Authorities, including Jamtara Sub Divisional Officer Anant Kumar and Deputy Commissioner Shashi Bhushan Mehra, confirmed the casualties and noted ongoing efforts to provide medical treatment to the injured.

As rescue operations continue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on social media, expressing pain over the mishap and hoping for the swift recovery of the injured individuals.
