Congress Releases First List of Candidates for Meghalaya Elections
Guwahati: Ahead assembly elections in Meghalaya, the Congress has so far released their first list of 55 candidates.
The party has fielded its Meghalaya unit Chief Vincent H Pala from the Sungai Saipung (ST) constituency. Pala is the sitting Lok Sabha MP from Shillong.
Saleng A Sangma, a former NCP lawmaker who on January 23 switched parties to join the Congress, has been nominated from the Gambegre (ST) assembly district, PTI reported
The first list of candidates was released following a meeting of the party’s central election committee on Wednesday, presided over by party chairman Mallikarjun Kharge.
Voting for the 60 seats in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will take place in a single phase on February 27. Counting of votes will take place on March 2.
