Congress Renames Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Nyay Yatra to Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra Ahead of 66-Day March

National Desk, 5th Jan: The Congress party has decided to rename Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming Bharat Nyay Yatra as Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, set to commence on January 14 from Imphal, Manipur.

Covering 6,713 kilometers across 110 districts in eastern and western India over 66 days, the march will be led by Gandhi and traverse states like Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

The yatra aims to address social, economic, and political justice issues, emphasizing the success of Gandhi’s previous Bharat Jodo Yatra.

The decision to rename the yatra was made during a meeting of state party presidents and legislative party leaders in New Delhi, focusing on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Jairam Ramesh, the party’s general secretary media in-charge, highlighted the transformative impact of Gandhi’s earlier yatra from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.

The renamed yatra aims to continue the focus on justice—economic, social, and political—echoing the principles outlined in the Preamble of the Indian constitution.

While the previous Bharat Jodo Yatra involved significant walking, the new yatra will mainly be conducted by bus, with intermittent walks by Gandhi to interact with people and civil society organizations. Despite speculation around the INDIA alliance, Ramesh stated that everyone, including INDIA alliance partners and members of other parties, is invited to join the yatra.

Discussions with INDIA alliance members are scheduled, aiming to finalize alliances in different states within the alliance. The Congress party seeks to extend an open invitation for collaboration in its yatra, emphasizing a united approach for social justice and political goals.
