Congress: Sonia Gandhi apponits leaders for organisational suggetions in 5 states
Guwahati: Congress President Sonia Gandhi appointed five top leaders to review the post-poll scenario in five states and provide recommendations for organisational changes.
The duty of analysing the situation in Manipur and Punjab has been assigned to Jairam Ramesh and Ajay Maken, respectively. Rajani Patil, a member of the Rajya Sabha, has been requested to review the situation in Goa.
“With immediate effect, the Congress president has designated leaders to examine the post-election scenario and advise organisational reforms in the states (with input from MLA candidates and major leaders),” according to an official release.
The Congress performed poorly in the recently ended assembly elections, failing to reclaim any of the BJP-ruled states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur, as well as losing Punjab to the AAP.
It may be mentioned that On March 15, Sonia Gandhi had asked the chiefs of its Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur units to submit their resignations.
