Congress Stages Sit-In Protest In Guwahati Over Irregularities In NEET And NET Exams

Guwahati, 21st June: The Assam Congress toady organized a large-scale sit-in protest at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati over the alleged irregularities in the NEET and NET examinations.

Leading the protest were prominent figures of the Assam Congress including Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah and numerous senior Congress leaders and party workers.

During the protest, they raised slogans like BJP government hai hai, BJP government go back.

The Assam Congress is calling for a thorough investigation of the National Testing Agency and is demanding an immediate ban on the NTA. They are also urging the resignation of the Union Education Minister.

The Congress has made it clear that this protest is not a one-day event. They are committed to continuing their sit-in until justice is served for the students who have been affected. This ongoing dharna underscores their determination to seek accountability and fairness in the examination process.

Notably, The medical entrance examination, National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET-UG, was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 5 with around 24 lakh candidates taking part. The results were announced on June 4.
There have been allegations of question paper leaks in States such as Bihar and other irregularities in the exam. The allegations have led to protests in several cities and the filing of petitions in several High Courts as well as the Supreme Court.

In response to the protest, the Assam government deployed tight security measures outside the Congress Bhawan to manage the situation and maintain order.
