Congress Taps Gaurav Gogoi to Lead Assam Unit, Sparks Jubilation
Guwahati: Senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP, Gaurav Gogoi, has been named the new President of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), a move that has ignited widespread enthusiasm and celebration among party ranks and supporters across the state. The announcement comes as a significant boost, perceived by many as a strategic step to invigorate the party’s machinery.
The otherwise tranquil town of Dhumarkur in Bajali district transformed into a vibrant hub of jubilation, as party faithful burst firecrackers and gathered in joyous celebration of Gogoi’s elevation to the top organisational post in Assam. The festive air palpably reflected a deep-seated optimism at the grassroots level regarding the party’s revitalised leadership.
In a complementary and strategic move, the Congress party also announced the appointments of Jakir Hussain Sikdar, Rouzlina Tirkey, and Pradip Sarkar as Working Presidents of the APCC. This triad of appointments is seen as a deliberate effort to bolster the party’s organisational presence and outreach across the diverse geographical and demographic landscape of Assam.
Ismail Hussain, the recently elected President of the Kaldiya Zilla Parishad, was quick to extend his heartfelt congratulations to the new leadership. Hussain expressed profound confidence in their collective ability to re-establish the party’s vital grassroots connect and to chart a dynamic and forward-looking trajectory for the Congress in the state.
Within party circles, there is a strong belief that Gogoi’s leadership will inject a much-needed surge of energy and a fresh vision, particularly as the party gears up for the crucial electoral battles looming on the horizon in Assam.
