Congress unveils guarantees for women ahead of 2024 LS elections
National Desk, 13th March: In a significant move aimed at empowering women across the nation, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge announced the launch of the “Nari Nyay Guarantee” initiative today in Delhi. This comprehensive agenda is poised to redefine the role of women in society with five key announcements.
Firstly, under the “Mahalaxmi Guarantee,” the Congress pledges to provide financial assistance of Rs 1 Lakh per annum to one woman from every economically disadvantaged family. This financial aid aims to uplift women from impoverished backgrounds and support their economic independence.
Secondly, with the “Aadhi Aabadi Poora Haq” initiative, women will be entitled to half of all new recruitments at the Central Government level. This groundbreaking policy aims to ensure gender parity in government employment, promoting equal opportunities for women in the workforce.
Under the “Shakti Ka Sammaan” initiative, the Congress vows to double the Central Government’s contribution to the monthly income of Anganwadi, ASHA, and midday meal workers. This increase in financial support seeks to recognize and honor the invaluable contributions of women serving in essential community roles.
Fourthly, with the “Adhikar Maitri” initiative, the Congress plans to appoint a paralegal at every panchayat to educate women about their rights and provide them with necessary assistance. This initiative aims to empower women with legal knowledge and ensure access to justice at the grassroots level.
Lastly, the Congress commits to constructing “Savitribai Phule” hostels for working women at district headquarters across the country. This initiative aims to address the housing needs of working women, providing them with safe and affordable accommodation.
The “Nari Nyay Guarantee” initiative underscores Congress’s commitment to advancing gender equality and empowering women from all walks of life. With these comprehensive measures, the party aims to create a more inclusive and equitable society, where women can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress.
