Congress’s Rakibul Hussain Demands Permanent High Court Benches to Ease Litigants’ Long Haul
Guwahati, 31st July: Dhubri MP Rakibul Hussain has brought attention to a pressing concern in Parliament regarding the establishment of permanent benches of the Guwahati High Court. Addressing the issue under notice rule 377, Hussain highlighted the considerable distances that litigants from various regions must travel to reach the High Court.
“Today I raised an important issue under notice rule 377 regarding the establishment of the permanent benches of Guwahati High Court which poses significant distances for litigants from Dibrugarh (457km), Dhubri (250 km), and Silchar (320km),” Hussain stated. He emphasized the challenges faced by those seeking justice from these far-flung areas.
As per parliamentary procedure, the government is expected to respond to this notice within a stipulated time. Hussain’s advocacy aims to bring judicial services closer to the people of Assam, alleviating the burden of long-distance travel for litigants.
