Conrad Sangma Sworn-In as Meghalaya CM
Guwahati: The National People’s Party chief Conrad Sangma was sworn in as the second-consecutive chief minister of Meghalaya on Tuesday in Shillong.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP chief J P Nadda and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma were present at the oath-taking ceremony.
Meanwhile, Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar took oath as the Deputy Chief Ministers of the state.
Moreover, Abu Taher Mondal, Kyrmen Shylla, Marcuise N Marak and Rakkan A Sangma, Alexander Laloo Hek, Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh, Paul Lyngdoh, Shakliar Warjri and Comingone Ymbon took oath as ministers in the NPP-led Meghalaya government.
PM Modi arrived in Guwahati earlier today in order to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
He will also be there when Neiphiu Rio takes his oath of office as chief minister of Nagaland today.
The National People’s Party (NPP) led by Conrad Sangma emerged as the state’s single-largest party but fell short of the majority threshold in the recently concluded assembly elections in the Northeast. The NPP is now expected to form a coalition government with the BJP in Meghalaya.
