Conrad Sangma’s Party Members Celebrate Their Victory With Shower Of Notes
Guwahati: Members of the National People’s Party (NPP) threw cash outside the house of party leader C Kipili Sangtam in celebration of their party winning five seats in Nagaland’s 60-member assembly.
The NPP, a party from Meghalaya led by Conrad Sangma has been in charge of the state for the second time in a row. It was viewed as a significant victory for the Meghalaya party that the NPP won five seats in Nagaland for the first time.
In a video that went viral on social media, NPP employees could be seen celebrating their victory at Nagaland’s Kiphire by shouting and dancing, throwing cash in the air, and dancing.
The BJP-NDPP coalition gained 37 seats in Nagaland, surpassing the majority threshold.
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) which is led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gained seven seats. The Lok Janshakti Party which is led by Ram Vilas, the Naga People’s Front, and the Republican Party of India (Athawale), each won two seats. Four places went to independents.
The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) which has been in control in Nagaland is taking over again.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who on Friday was unanimously elected leader of the NDPP Legislature Party, today gave his resignation letter to Governor La Ganesan.
