Couple Found Dead After Brutal Attack in Karbi Anglong

A pall of gloom has descended upon Munda Basti in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district following a horrific incident that claimed the lives of a couple and left their three young children battling for their lives. The spine-chilling event unfolded late Saturday night within the confines of the Namburnadi tea estate in the Barpathar region, sending shockwaves through the community.

According to police reports released on Sunday, unidentified individuals forcibly entered the home of Julo Munda, unleashing a brutal assault on the entire family. Tragically, Julo Munda and his wife, Panchami, were subsequently abducted from their residence, leaving behind their three children, aged between nine and thirteen, bearing grievous injuries from the attack.

A local police officer relayed the harrowing account pieced together from the statement of the couple’s nine-year-old son. The young boy recounted the terrifying moments when his parents were violently attacked before being forcibly taken away by the unknown assailants. The injured children received initial medical attention at a local facility before being transferred to the Golaghat Civil Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment for the severe trauma they endured.

Responding swiftly to the distress call, police launched an extensive search operation in the vicinity. Their efforts culminated in the grim discovery of the bodies of Julo and Panchami Munda on Sunday afternoon. The deceased couple was found in a waterlogged coal mining pit situated some distance away from their now-desolate home.

As the community grapples with the enormity of the tragedy, authorities are diligently working to unravel the mystery behind the brutal crime. The identities of the perpetrators and their motive remain unknown at this stage, and a comprehensive investigation has been launched to bring those responsible to justice.
