Covid-19: Meghalaya Govt extends winter holidays in Schools

Guwahati: The Meghalaya Government has decided to prolong the winter holiday for schools until January 24 due of the Covid outbreak. Winter break was intended to expire on January 10th, but it has now been extended until January 24th.

Meghalaya had previously issued a new Covid Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to combat the virus’s proliferation in the state.

As per the guidelines issued by the Meghalaya Government, Covid testing will be continued at all state entrance points, including for people who are fully vaccinated. Those entering the state must produce a negative Covid report within the previous 72 hours, failing which a test will be administered at the entrance points.

Meanwhile, the State government has recommended all eligible people to get the Covid vaccine.

It may be mentioned that Meghalaya has recorded 70 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of active Covid cases in the state to 448. The state also reported two more Covid deaths in the same time period.
