CPI(M)-Congress Alliance Secures Victory in Tripura Bar Association Elections

Northeast Desk, 25th March: In a significant electoral outcome, the CPI(M)-Congress-backed ‘Save Constitution Forum’ emerged victorious in the elections of the Tripura Bar Association, defeating the BJP-Tipra Motha panel ‘Aainjebi Unnayan Mancha’.

The Tripura Bar Association, recognized as the largest lawyers association in the state, witnessed Mrinal Kanti Biswas (Congress) and Koushik Indu (CPIM) clinching the positions of president and secretary, respectively. This triumph marks a notable achievement for the Save Constitution Forum, underscoring its growing influence within the legal fraternity.

The elections, held across four centers, boasted a substantial turnout of approximately 500 eligible voters, indicative of heightened engagement compared to the previous year’s figures.

Following the conclusion of the counting process, Returning Officer and Advocate Sandip Dutta Chowdhury provided insights into the election results, confirming the victory of Mrinal Kanti Biswas as president, Subrata Debnath as vice-president, and Koushik Indu as secretary of the Tripura Bar Association. Additionally, advocates Amar Debbarma and Utpal Das secured positions as assistant secretaries.

The decisive participation of 463 out of 500 eligible voters underscores the significance and democratic fervor surrounding the Tripura Bar Association elections. This outcome reflects shifting political dynamics within the legal community and sets the stage for potential developments in the state’s legal landscape.
