CPIM Urges Tripura Government to Prevent Post-Election Violence, Maintain Peace
Northeast Desk, 5th June: The opposition Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) has called on the Tripura government to proactively prevent any post-election violence and ensure a peaceful environment in the state.
In a recent statement, the CPIM Secretariat accused the ruling party of fostering a climate of fear and abnormal political conditions well before the election. They alleged that the ruling party leveraged significant financial power and administrative resources to disrupt opposition campaigns and remove numerous polling agents from booths.
“Many voters were prevented from reaching polling stations, highlighting our pre-election concerns about the integrity of the process,” the CPIM stated. They argued that the efforts of the CPIM and the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) to restore democracy were not accurately reflected in the election results. The results, they contended, failed to address critical issues such as rampant corruption, severe unemployment, and a breakdown in law and order, leading to widespread public protests.
The CPIM described the election outcome as a “new chapter of shame,” alleging it surpassed previous records of electoral malpractice.
Despite the disappointing results, the CPIM commended the citizens and political workers who participated in the campaign to uphold democracy and the constitution. The party urged the state administration to take decisive action against any attempts at post-election violence and to ensure peace and stability in Tripura.
