National: Security forces and Jammu and Kashmir authorities are ramping up their efforts to apprehend those responsible for the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam that resulted in the deaths of 26 people, predominantly tourists.
In a significant move on Saturday, officials confirmed the demolition of a residential structure in Chotipora village, situated in the Shopian district. This house is alleged to have ties to a terrorist believed to have played a role in the deadly attack that occurred on April 22nd.
Simultaneously, authorities undertook a similar operation in the Kulgam district, where they razed the residence of another suspect identified as Zakir Ahmad Ganie, who resided in Mutalhama village. Ganie has reportedly been involved in terrorist activities since 2023 and is strongly suspected of being a key figure in the Pahalgam tragedy, an incident that has sparked widespread condemnation nationwide.
Prior to this, on Friday, security forces took action against Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative Adil Thokar, also known by the alias Adil Guree. His house, located in Guree village within the Bijbehara block of Anantnag district, was demolished. Adil is considered a primary suspect in the Pahalgam attack and has been declared a “most wanted” terrorist. The Anantnag Police have announced a substantial reward of ₹20 lakh for any reliable information that leads to his apprehension.
Furthermore, authorities disclosed that two Pakistani nationals are also among those most wanted in connection with this case, highlighting the suspected cross-border connections to the horrific terror assault.
