CRPF Head Constable Slain in Manipur Militant Attack, Honored in Solemn Cremation Ceremony
Northeast Desk, 29th April: Amidst somber tributes and profound grief, the mortal remains of CRPF head constable Arup Saini, who tragically fell victim to a militant attack in Manipur, were laid to rest with full military honors in his ancestral village in Bankura district, West Bengal.
The solemn ceremony paid homage to the bravery and sacrifice of Saini, who succumbed to injuries sustained during the assault on a camp of security forces in Manipur’s Bishnupur district. The tragic incident, occurring in the early hours of Saturday, claimed the lives of two CRPF personnel while injuring two others.
Saini’s final rites were accompanied by the traditional rites of a gun salute, symbolizing the nation’s gratitude for his selfless service. Senior officers, including representatives from the CRPF and Bankura’s law enforcement, paid their respects by offering wreaths in honor of the fallen hero.
Present at the cremation site were senior CRPF officials and Bankura’s Superintendent of Police, Vaibhav Tiwari, who stood in solidarity with Saini’s grieving family and comrades.
The attack, orchestrated by militants targeting an IRBn camp in the Moirang police station area, unfolded in the dead of night, unleashing a barrage of violence that lasted for over an hour. Amidst the chaos, CRPF sub-inspector N Sarkar and head constable Arup Saini made the ultimate sacrifice, laying down their lives in the line of duty.
The deployed CRPF personnel, entrusted with the crucial task of securing the IRBn camp, were ambushed by militants who unleashed a flurry of bombs, one of which struck the outpost of CRPF’s 128 battalion, claiming precious lives and leaving a trail of devastation in its wake.
As the nation mourns the loss of its valiant guardians, the solemn cremation ceremony serves as a poignant reminder of the unwavering dedication and sacrifice exhibited by the brave men and women of the CRPF in safeguarding the nation’s integrity and security.
