Curfew relaxed in Rajasthan’s Udaipur, internet remains suspended

Guwahati: The curfew in Udaipur has been relaxed for 10 hours on Sunday and things are now gradually getting back to normal following the murder of a tailor by two men.

However, internet services still remain suspended.

Curfew was enforced in seven police station areas of Udaipur following the murder of the tailor on Tuesday and other violent occurrences.

The situation is becoming normal in the city. Therefore, it was decided to relax curfew from 8 am to 6 pm, a district administration official said as reported by PTI.

Markets opened and regular operations resumed today

The city is returning to normal life. According to the PTI report, a local resident remarked that because the locals have kept the peace, the curfew should be entirely abolished.

However, markets in Ajmer were closed on Sunday due to a bandh call issued by Hindu organisations in response to the Udaipur incident.

Hindu organisations in Jaipur have also organised a protest calling for the execution of the killers.

It may be mentioned that a tailor in Udaipur Kanhaiya Lal was hacked to death on Tuesday by Riaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad who said in a video posted online that they had avenged an insult to Islam.
The two alleged murderers were taken into custody hours later in Rajsamand.

Two more suspects who were involved in the reconnaissance of the tailor’s shop and the murder conspiracy were also detained on Thursday night.

They are under the custody of NIA.
