CWG 2022: Achinta Sheuli Won India’s Third Gold in Weightlifting

Guwahati: Indian weightlifter Achinta Sheuli won India’s third gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on Sunday.

Sheuli accomplished  by lifting 313 kg in total during the men’s 73 kg final. Since the beginning of the competition, the nation has won six medals.

Achinta Sheuli started strong and lifted 137 kg in his maiden attempt at the Snatch division. Achinta lifted 140 kg in the second attempt in the category without breaking a sweat. He lifted 143 kg on his third and final effort.

Achinta had incredible strength in the Clean and Jerk lift category by successfully lifting 166 kg on his first try. He chose to lift 170 kg in the category’s second attempt, but he was unsuccessful. In his third and final attempt, he effortlessly lifted 170 kg.

Meanwhile, Achinta Sheuli has given his brother and coaches a medal in their honour.
