Cyber Criminals Apprehended in Nagaon for Elaborate Scam Operation
Guwahati, 11th August: In a significant breakthrough, law enforcement authorities have detained three cyber criminals in Nagaon, Assam, as part of a joint operation carried out by Nagaon Town Police and Itachali Police. The operation, conducted in Dimoruguri village, resulted in the apprehension of Anowar Uddin Ahmed, Iliyas Ahmed, and Azarul Islam.
Investigations have revealed that the trio was involved in an elaborate scam that targeted unsuspecting individuals, ultimately amassing substantial sums of money. Their strategy involved fraudulent registration of SIM cards under the names of school students using counterfeit documents. These SIM cards were then used as tools to deceive and swindle the public out of their hard-earned money.
The cybercriminals managed to exploit this fraudulent method to accumulate several lakhs of rupees, capitalizing on the trust that people place in communication services. Authorities were able to seize a significant amount of evidence during the operation, including 400 SIM cards and 10 mobile phones found in possession of the culprits.
However, one additional individual involved in the scheme managed to evade capture and escape from the scene as law enforcement approached. Authorities are continuing their efforts to track down and apprehend this fourth culprit.
This successful operation serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance against cybercrime and the need to stay cautious when engaging in financial transactions online or over the phone.
