Cyclone Sitrang: Heavy Rainfall, Storm Destroy Houses
Guwahati: Several houses were damaged due to Cyclone Sitrang which caused severe rainfall and a storm in the Assam’s Nagaon district.
The cyclonic storm on Monday night caused numerous trees and utility poles to be uprooted throughout the region.
According to reports, the storm caused damage to a number of homes in the central Assam district’s Kaliabor, Bamuni, Sakmuthia tea estate, and Boraligaon neighbourhoods.
So yet, there have been no storm-related fatalities in the region.
“In our Kaliabor region, the storm caused damage to several homes and the uprooting of numerous trees. I have inspected the entire village as the head of a government village, and I will present our Circle Officer with a damage report “said the village headman.
Meanwhile, the tides have hit the coast of Bakkhali beach in South 24 Parganas in West Bengal amid the cyclone ‘Sitrang’ alert.
