Daily Wage Worker Killed by Lightning Strike in West Tripura
Agartala: A tragic incident occurred in West Tripura’s Arakata village when a daily wage worker lost his life after being struck by lightning on the night of June 9. The deceased, identified as Manoj Das, was returning home from work in Agartala when the lightning strike hit him near the Arakata-Kalagachhia Bazar road in the Mohanpur subdivision.
The impact of the lightning strike was intense, causing a significant crack in the road. Locals spotted Manoj unconscious and his bicycle lying in a nearby paddy field around 8 PM. They rushed him to the Mohanpur Sub-divisional Health Centre, where doctors referred him to GB Pant Hospital in Agartala due to the critical nature of his injuries.
Despite the best efforts of the medical team, Manoj Das succumbed to his injuries at around 1:20 AM on Tuesday. As the sole breadwinner of his family, his death has left his wife, young son, and daughter grappling with loss and uncertainty. The family is now facing an uncertain future without their primary source of income.
