Dalai Lama Expresses Gratitude for Warmth and Freedom in India Amid Tibet’s Turmoil

Northeast Desk, 14th December: Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, reflecting on the Tibetan exile and China’s takeover of Tibet, conveyed gratitude for the warm affection, respect, and freedom accorded to Tibetans in India.

Speaking to reporters in Siliguri, he noted, “We Tibetans became refugees…In our own country, there is a lot of control, but here in India we have freedom…”

Dalai Lama’s visit to Sikkim marked a profound occasion as he delivered teachings that captivated a gathering of approximately 30,000 people.

The spiritual leader’s presence, after a 13-year hiatus, generated both excitement and reverence among a diverse audience.

State dignitaries, government officials, monks, and individuals from various backgrounds converged at Paljor Stadium, where Dalai Lama shared his teachings.

Some made the pilgrimage on foot, while others utilized the shuttle bus service provided by the State Government.

The streets leading to the stadium transformed into a traffic-free zone, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
