Dalai Lama Initiates Visit to Sikkim and West Bengal

National Desk, 9th December: The spiritual leader of Tibet, the 14th Dalai Lama, commenced his visit to Sikkim and West Bengal on Saturday, with scheduled teachings from December 12 to 14. This visit has triggered diplomatic discussions amidst the ongoing border tension between India and China. The Dalai Lama’s teachings in Gangtok, situated approximately 50 kilometers from the China border, are of particular significance in this context.

At the request of the Sikkim State Government, the Dalai Lama is set to impart teachings on Gyalsey Thokme Sanpo’s 37 practices of a Bodhisattva at Paljor Stadium during his stay in Gangtok.

Subsequently, on December 14, he will proceed to Salugara, West Bengal, where he is slated to deliver a general teaching and preside over the ceremony for the generation of Bodhicitta (semkye) at Sed-Gyued Monastery. The spiritual leader’s engagements during this visit underscore the intersection of spiritual teachings and the geopolitical landscape in the region.
