Dasanglu Pul Celebrates Landmark Appointment as Arunachal Pradesh’s First Woman Minister in Two Decades
Northeast Desk, 13th June: Dasanglu Pul, newly appointed as Arunachal Pradesh’s first woman minister in twenty years, expressed profound elation following her swearing-in ceremony. “I am delighted, and the women of the entire state share this joy,” remarked Pul, emphasizing the historic nature of her appointment by the BJP Government. She extended her gratitude to the party and Chief Minister for the opportunity.
Highlighting the BJP’s commitment to women’s empowerment, Pul stated, “The BJP Government has consistently worked towards empowering women, and we will continue to uphold this mission.” Her appointment is seen as a significant milestone in Arunachal Pradesh’s political history, underscoring ongoing efforts to promote gender equality in governance.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at Itanagar’s Dorjee Khandu Convention Hall on June 13, was attended by dignitaries including Union Ministers Amit Shah, J.P. Nadda, and Kiren Rijiju, alongside chief ministers from neighboring states.
Pul, aged 46 and representing the Hayuliang assembly constituency in Anjaw district, entered politics in 2016 through a by-election after her husband, former chief minister Kalikho Pul’s demise. She has since been re-elected twice, in 2019 and 2024, solidifying her position as one of the state’s few women leaders.
Prior to her ministerial role, Pul served as an adviser to the Women and Child Development department, further contributing to her advocacy for women’s issues. Her appointment is widely celebrated as a crucial step towards enhancing women’s representation in Arunachal Pradesh’s decision-making processes.
