Guwahati: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has revealed that underworld don and fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim has formed a special unit to target India. According to the probe agency, the names of many political leaders and famous businessmen are included in the hit list.
According to an India Today report, the FIR revealed that Dawood Ibrahim with his Special Unit was planning to attack the country by using explosive and lethal weapons with the aim of inciting violence in different parts of the country. Apart from this, Dawood Ibrahim’s focus is on Delhi and Mumbai.
The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) had recently registered a money laundering case against Dawood Ibrahim and his associates for their involvement in financing terror activities. ED will interrogate Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar, his associates, and gang members.
On Friday, Iqbal Kaskar was sent to ED custody till February 24 in a money laundering case. The ED told the court that important facts could emerge in Kaskar’s interrogation as he is a key conspirator and leader of the syndicate.
Earlier this week, the ED had raided around 10 locations in Mumbai of people linked to Ibrahim’s late sister Haseena Parkar, Kaskar as well as relatives of gangster Chhota Shakeel. The ED’s case is based on an FIR registered recently by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) against Ibrahim and others under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
