DCP Diganta Choudhury: Charges Against Victor Das Not Without Reason
Guwahati: The deputy commissioner of police (DCP), central, Diganta Choudury said on Sunday that the accusations against him are entirely reasonable in response to the controversy that resulted from the explosive allegations of corruption in the recruitment process made by Victor Das.
A Guwahati resident named Victor Das said in a tweet on Friday that there were obvious inconsistencies in the state government’s hiring procedures. He was quickly arrested on suspicion of circulating untrue rumours.
DCP Choudhury asserted that there were no facts to back up the claims in this regard. “We’re keeping him so we can question him more. He had provided a bogus bike number, which was later revealed to be the case.
Meanwhile, a student of Das who runs a coaching institute in the city had also been summoned by the police for questioning earlier today.
A student of Das, who owns a coaching centre in the city, had also been called in by the police earlier today for interrogation.
Amlanjyoti Dutta, a student, said in the media that a few middlemen had demanded a sum of money totaling Rs. 7 lakhs in order to distribute positions for the recently held Assam Direct Recruitment Examination.
The police are currently investigating into the number provided by Amlanjyoti, according to DCP Choudhury.
“The accusations Victor is facing from the police are not without merit. The chief cop said, “Criminals who make offensive words are charged under section 153 (A) of the law.
Victor’s words had the potential to agitate the populace who had taken the tests, according to the Guwahati Police DCP.
Along with Amlanjyoti Dutta, another four of Victor Das’ students were dragged into the Guwahati police station at Pan Bazar.
According to the police, they were brought in for questioning in relation to the matter.
