Deaf And Mute artist from Assam Meets PM Modi, Presents His Painting

Guwahati: A 28-year-old Assam deaf and mute artist’s wish to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi was fulfilled by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday.

The youth identified as Abhijeet Gotani who is a resident of Assam’s Silchar was accompanied by his mother as they arrived in Delhi to meet PM Modi. A picture depicting the Prime Minister’s life journey was the particular present he brought.

The painting is a collage of pictures, including those of the Prime Minister with his mother, him speaking at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), and pictures of him growing up till he became the Prime Minister of India.

Gotani’s mother stated, “I could see the smile in his eye and feel the delight in his heart when the prime minister gave him a slap on the back for the beautiful artwork he had created.”

She then interpreted Gotani’s sign language comments. “I see PM Modi on television every day, but today I actually saw him,” he declared. It feels wonderful. I was touched when he praised my artwork and said it was extremely nice. The Prime Minister gave me a pat on the back, which made me feel great, and he complimented my artwork. My desire has come true today.

He has a soft heart and is quite straightforward. My parents will be thrilled that I got to meet PM. People like myself shouldn’t ever feel defeated; instead, we should prove to the rest of the world that we are capable of achieving our goals.

It may be noted that the family had flown from Silchar to Guwahati to meet with CM Sarma after Gotani had given him a painting a few months earlier. He had mentioned his wish to show the Prime Minister his painting during that encounter.

CM Sarma didn’t spare any time in asking PM Modi for a meeting. When he informed me, he wanted to meet the Prime Minister, I immediately wrote to the PM office to request an appointment for him because he is a really good youngster and has produced some excellent paintings, the man said to ANI.

Gotani’s mother said, “The kind of motivation of the Prime Minister brings to the youth of the country is inspirational. This will only motivate my son to do better.”
