Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Visits Assam’s Dinjan, Reviews Operational Readiness Along LAC

Guwahati: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh went to the Army Formation at Dinjan in the Dibrugarh district of Assam on Wednesday to assess its operational readiness.

Rajnath Singh was briefed by General Officer Commanding, 3 Corps Lieutenant General RC Tiwari, and other senior officials about infrastructure development along the LAC, capability development and operational preparedness.

The use of cutting-edge military hardware and technology to improve frontline soldiers’ operational effectiveness was also covered in the briefing for the defence minister. He praised the outstanding work and valiant efforts put forth by all ranks of the Spear Corps under trying circumstances.

Singh will visit forward locations on Thursday to examine the operational readiness in person and engage with the troops. Athu Popu is a yearly excursion of the indigenous Idu Mishmi tribe that has been made possible by the Indian Army since 2021 as part of outreach and ongoing efforts to support the locals and boost tourism. He will also meet with participants of the second religious expedition to Athu Popu.

During his visit, the defence minister will also look over the Border Roads Organisation’s (BRO) infrastructure projects.

Rajnath Singh will visit the frontlines during his three days in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh which end on September 30 (Friday).

He is being escorted by the Chief of the Army Staff, General Manoj Pande, and the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, Lieutenant General RP Kalita along with other senior officers.
