Delhi: 9-Year-Old Girl’s Body Found in Suitcase, Protests Erupt Over Suspected Murder and Assault
National: Tensions ran high in Delhi’s Dayalpur area after the lifeless body of a nine-year-old girl was discovered stuffed inside a suitcase at a neighbour’s residence. The gruesome discovery sparked widespread outrage and protests among locals and family members, who suspect the child was sexually assaulted and murdered. According to the girl’s family, she had visited a relative’s house nearby to deliver ice around 7 pm. When she failed to return home, her parents began searching for her. They approached several relatives and neighbours but were unable to locate her. Eventually, they were informed that she had been seen entering a nearby house, where her body was later found stuffed in a bloodstained suitcase.
The police were alerted to the incident through a PCR call at around 8:41 pm. A team was dispatched to the scene, and the girl’s body was subsequently taken to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The investigation is underway, with multiple teams deployed to collect evidence and track down the perpetrator.
The incident triggered massive protests in the neighbourhood, with hundreds of residents blocking a nearby road and demanding justice. The protesters raised slogans against the police, alleging negligence, and demanded the immediate arrest of the culprit. Senior police officers attempted to pacify the crowd, assuring them that strict action would be taken in the case. However, the situation remained tense, with a heavy police presence required to maintain law and order.

Traffic movement in the area was severely affected, with commuters stuck for hours and emergency services facing delays. The victim’s family is devastated, with the mother in a state of deep shock and the father demanding justice.
