Delhi CM Announces India’s First Virtual School

Guwahati: The Delhi government has established India’s first virtual school, named the Delhi Model Virtual School, for children who find it difficult to attend physical lessons every day because to the Covid-19 pandemic, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Wednesday.

It will be a first-of-its-kind move for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration, which is well-known for its educational initiatives and the Delhi model of education, which gives hundreds of pupils in the nation’s capital access to learning opportunities through government-run schools.

During a live broadcast, Delhi CM Kejriwal said, “Today, we are starting India’s first virtual school — the Delhi Model Virtual School, affiliated to the Delhi Board of School Education. We’re inviting admission applications for Class 9 from today. Students from all over the country can apply for admission.”

Early in 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic spread over the world and to India, prompting a three-month lockdown that required pupils to stay away from their classrooms. Only recently this year have schools been able to reopen.

There has been a significant gap in their academic progress since students were compelled to miss the majority of two and a half years of school. Many obstacles have prevented some pupils from routinely attending lessons even after the reopening of the schools.

According to Kejriwal, the online school is open to all students and allows them to access video lectures as well as live seminars and study materials.

The Delhi CM stated, “Students can access recorded class sessions and study materials in the Delhi Model Virtual School in addition to attending live lessons. Additionally, we will support the kids as they get ready for competitive exams like JEE and NEET.”

Today also marked the start of the application process for the Delhi Model Virtual School (DMVS). The institution is for students in grades 9 through 12.
