Delhi Dy CM’s Personal Assistant Held After ED Raids
Guwahati: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested his personal assistant following a raid at his home in relation to a case involving the city’s excise policy.
According to reports, the investigation team from the crime branch conducted a raid on Devendra Sharma’s home in Mandawli in east Delhi on Saturday in connection with its money laundering inquiry. He was later taken with the ED team because he allegedly refused to cooperate during questioning.
Manish Sisodia criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for being terrified of losing the polls after sharing the news on Twitter.
He tweeted, “They got my house raided based on false FIR, searched bank lockers, checked in my village but found nothing against me. Today, they conducted a raid at my PA’s house and when they didn’t find anything, they arrested him. BJP people! So much fear of losing the election.”
Sisodia was quizzed for nine hours on October 17 at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headquarters in the nation’s capital after being summoned earlier that day.
After being summoned to his home, Sisodia claimed that the case against him was brought against him in order to “make Operation Lotus successful in Delhi,” not to look into any suspected scandal.
However, the CBI denied all of these claims and insisted that the test was conducted “professionally and legally.”
It stated that the probe would proceed in accordance with the law.
Sisodia, who leads the excise department, has come under scrutiny for alleged willful and egregious procedural errors that gave liquor licenses for the years 2021–2022 an unfair advantage during the tendering process.
